A Study on Sociodrama Experience for Education of Youth Suicide Prevention in Teacher Community: approach of grounded theory
Chin Hye-Jeon

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of sociodrama geared toward instructing how to educate adolescents not to commit suicide on the changes of the roles and personal attitude of participating teachers and to determine the applicability of this kind of sociodrama as a way to prevent students from committing suicide. The subjects in this study were 120 elementary school teachers in the region of Daegu. They performed in sociodrama twice for eight hours, and then an open-ended survey was conducted to let them report their experiences. After their answer sheets were collected, a qualitative analysis was carried out based on Strauss and Corbin`s grounded theory. As a result, suicide prevention education by sociodrama was of great use for the teachers to understand and empathize the mentality of students, especially students who committed suicide. Furthermore, they looked back on themselves and even were able to understand their own children. The findings proved that based on Moreno`s role theory, sociodrama brought about a change to the roles and personal attitude of the teachers through their own acting out, and that it can be used as a means of personality education.
